Educational Advice
Parents and adults are often referred to me by professionals (e.g teachers, psychiatrists, psychologists, social workers, marriage family therapists, speech and language therapists, and tutors) to gain a clearer understanding of the results of an evaluation, conduct a limited educational evaluation to get clarity on an issue, or the meaning of a diagnosis, and/or to determine next steps. For grade school clients, I regularly work with a child's content tutor once every 4-6 weeks to oversee and guide a tutoring plan or develop an instructional plan that addresses the characteristics associated with learning differences. For adults, work often centers around executive functioning at home and work, or a better understanding of how the brain plays out in real life. Consultations are typically 1 hour.

- Clarity on how the diagnosis actually translates into learning and behavior at school;
- Determination of next steps, a "roadmap", help with the right academic or work solution(s), or all of these;
- An session using the Brain Explained Tool (c) (Ofiesh, 2010, 2020) in order to clarify learning strengths and needs, and what can be done to help;
- Referrals to resources in the community for assistive technology, groups, therapeutic support, or other professionals.
- Advice about the special education process, school test results, test accommodations, and working with other learning specialists in a school setting (K-Graduate School).
